What is a Learning Hub? (And Why Teenagers Love Them)

A Learning Hub is not a school. It looks nothing like a school. There are no uniforms, no bells, no rows of desks, and no teacher standing at the front. But it might be exactly what your teenager needs.

BGA Learning Hubs are small, community-based learning spaces — think co-working space for teenagers. Each Hub has 30–45 learners and one Learning Coach for every 15 students. Learners can attend up to four days a week.

What happens there?

Focused study time with coach support. Collaborative Build Week projects — real-world challenges where learners work in teams. Workshops. Guest speakers. And crucially, social time. Because teenagers need friends and community, not just qualifications.

Why not just study at home?

Some BGA learners do — the fully online option works brilliantly for self-motivated students. But many teenagers thrive with a space to go to, people to work alongside, and a coach who knows them. The Hub provides structure without rigidity, community without conformity.

Where are Hubs?

Currently in Portugal, Mozambique, South Africa, Spain, the UK, the US, and expanding into Asia. Families without a local Hub use the fully online option with virtual communities and collaborative projects.
